Position 1:
Description: We have an opening for a postdoctoral research associate position in the Dr. Caigang Zhu lab within the Department of Biomedical Engineering and Markey Cancer Center at University of Kentucky. The prospective candidate will be expected to contribute to our cancer imaging and spectroscopy program in which she/he will have opportunities to pursue technical developments in spectroscopy and microscopy, conduct preclinical and translational research, and mentor graduate students. This position will also provide a unique opportunity to gain experience in a multidisciplinary research environment.
Qualifications : Candidates should hold a doctoral degree in an appropriate field of engineering, physical science or biological sciences. The applicant must be capable of developing experimental and modeling skills and have experience with lasers, fiber optics, CCD cameras, spectroscopy, microscopy, LabVIEW programming. Previous experience in biomedical optical spectroscopy, imaging, microscopy, cell culture, and preclinical models is particularly helpful. Excellent organization and communication skills are a must. The initial appointment will be for a one-year period, with possibility of extension based on performance and the availability of funding.
Position 2:

The prospective candidate will be expected to contribute to our cancer metabolism and metabolic imaging program in which she/he will have opportunities to pursue organotypic tumor models (organoids and live tumor slice culturing) developments for breast cancers and head and neck cancers, conduct preclinical and translational research, and mentor graduate students. This position will also provide a unique opportunity to gain experience in a multidisciplinary research environment.
Qualifications : Candidates should hold a doctoral degree in an appropriate field of cancer biology or biological sciences. The applicant must be capable of developing experimental skills and have experience with cell culture, immunofluorescence imaging, aniaml studies, tail vein injection, surgery. Previous experience in microscopy, metabolomics, Seahorse Assay is particularly helpful. Excellent organization and communication skills are a must. The initial appointment will be for a one-year period, with possibility of extension based on performance and the availability of funding.
